TORONTO (September 24, 2013) With one week remaining until the start of the NHL regular season, Sportsnet presents the unimaginable childhood and family life story of the Ottawa Senators’ newest star Bobby Ryan. The half-hour special The Secret Life of Bobby Ryan debuts Sunday, Sept. 29 at 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific.
Speaking exclusively with Sportsnet, Ryan opens up to Christine Simpson about his dark past, filled with dramatic stories that include his parents’ once-turbulent relationship, changing the family name and moving across the country to evade the FBI. Throughout the turmoil, Ryan explains how he found refuge in hockey with the game serving as his saving grace. Ryan’s parents, Bob and Melody Stevenson, also sit down with Simpson to candidly discuss their relationship and the pride they share for their son.
