TORONTO – Gary Allenson is the new manager of the Buffalo Bisons, promoted by the Toronto Blue Jays to replace the departed Marty Brown at their triple-A affiliate.
Joining Allenson, who managed at double-A New Hampshire last year, is pitching coach Randy St. Claire, who takes over after Bob Stanley was promoted to bullpen coach in the majors when Pat Hentgen was forced to take a leave from the post.
St. Claire, who had been with the New York Mets, was due to work with Allenson at New Hampshire, but the Blue Jays simply moved both up the chain when the positions in Buffalo opened up.
Replacing them with the Fisher Cats are manager Bobby Meacham and pitching Darold Knowles, both promoted from single-A Dunedin.
Omar Malave will take over as manager in Dunedin.
Clayton McCullough, who led the single-A Vancouver Canadians to consecutive championships, was promoted to player development co-ordinator, filling the role Tim Leiper left when he was named Blue Jays first base coach.
