The Toronto Blue Jays have designated outfielder Norichika Aoki for assignment ahead of Monday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox.
Aoki was acquired from Houston as part of the deal that sent Francisco Liriano to the Astros.
He has a .281/.294/.594 slash line in 12 games since joining the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays are assigning the 35-year-old to make room for pitcher Leonel Campos, who was recalled from triple-A Buffalo.
Campos has pitched 10.2 innings for Toronto this season and has a 3.38 ERA.
