Blue Jays minor-leaguer Hollon suspended 50 games for drug violation

NEW YORK — Toronto Blue Jays minor league pitcher Clinton Hollon has been suspended 50 games for testing positive for an amphetamine in violation of the minor league drug program.

The commissioner’s office made the announcement Friday.

The 20-year-old right-hander was taken by the Blue Jays in the second round of the 2013 draft. He is 1-1 with a 4.05 ERA for Class A Lansing of the Midwest League.

There have been 78 suspensions this year under the minor league drug program.
