Blue Jays recall Dominic Leone, designate Lucas Harrell for assignment

The Tigers beat the Blue Jays 6-5 after 11 innings thanks to Jeff Beliveau walking Alex Avila with the bases loaded.

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled reliever Dominic Leone from triple-A Buffalo and designated right-hander Lucas Harrell for assignment, the team announced Monday.

Leone, 25, has a 2.95 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 34 appearances with the Blue Jays this season, and last saw action on July 6 before being optioned the next day to make room for Aaron Sanchez.

The 32-year-old Harrell had pitched in four games for Toronto since being called up on July 1, posting an ERA of 7.11 and a 2.211 WHIP in just 6.1 innings.
