The Toronto Blue Jays transferred shortstop Troy Tulowitzki to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday, which will likely end his 2017 season.
Tulowitzki suffered an ankle injury on July 28 while running to first base against the Los Angeles Angels, and has not played in a game since. Even if he were to be activated immediately after the minimum 60 days are up in late September, the Blue Jays would only have a few games remaining on their schedule.
The 32-year-old slashed .249/.300/.378 with seven home runs and 26 RBI in 66 games this year.
Toronto also officially promoted pitcher Nick Tepesch from triple-A Buffalo and optioned left-hander Matt Dermody to the Bisons.
