ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Boston Red Sox have recalled right-hander Alfredo Aceves from Triple-A Pawtucket and optioned reliever Jose De La Torre to the International League club.

Aceves was called up to start Wednesday night’s game against Tampa Bay.

De La Torre allowed one run over 3 1-3 innings in Tuesday night’s 8-3 loss to the Rays. The right-hander was recalled from Pawtucket before the game to help a depleted bullpen following Boston’s 10-8, 14-inning win Monday night over the Rays.
