John Gibbons oversees the best starting rotation in the American League, so he doesn’t exactly need much in the way of reinforcements, but it never hurts to keep in touch with old friends, so the manager checked in on Mark Buehrle recently.
Their exchange was predictably entertaining:
Buehrle, who spent the final three seasons of his 16-year MLB career with the Blue Jays, hung up his spikes after the 2015 campaign.
He hasn’t officially retired, leaving some to wonder if he’d make a return to the majors at some point. But judging by his response to Gibbons, it’s a fair bet that won’t happen.
