The season hasn’t even begun and Russell Martin has already made a big impact.
Russell Martin Sr. that is.
The father of Toronto Blue Jays catcher Russell Martin wowed the crowd at Olympic Stadium in Montreal on Friday with his saxophone renditions of the Canadian and U.S. national anthems.
The jazz musician earned a rousing applause from the crowd and even had his son fighting back tears.
Russell Martin Sr. playing the national anthems while Russell Martin looks on. That was one really cool father-son moment.

Watching Russell Martin Sr. jam away on the sax. Watching his son overcome with emotion. Man, I love this team! #BlueJays

The younger Martin signed a five-year, $82 million contract with the Blue Jays in the off-season.
He grew up in Montreal and said Friday that being in the city for the Blue Jays’ exhibition games against the Cincinnati Reds was a trip down memory lane for him.
