Indians claim infielder Rob Refsnyder off waivers from Blue Jays

The Cleveland Indians claimed infielder Rob Refsnyder off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.

Refsnyder hit .196 played in 32 games for the Blue Jays in 2017.

The 26-year-old was acquired by Toronto from the New York Yankees on July 23 for first baseman Ryan McBroom. Refsnyder had been designated for assignment by the Yankees on July 19.

New York drafted Refsnyder in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

In seperate move, the Blue Jays acquired minor league infielder Gift Ngoepe from the Pittsburgh Pirates for cash considerations.
