The Toronto Blue Jays got some encouraging news Friday, when they learned that Adam Lind could return to the field within two to three weeks.

Lind, who fractured a bone in his right foot, met with Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C. Friday according to a team release. Lind will wear a walking boot for five to seven days before resuming baseball activities and eventually returning to the field.

Lind was officially placed on the disabled list Friday, with Dan Johnson taking his place on the active roster.

The 30-year-old Lind caused a stir Wednesday when he revealed that he had learned of the fracture after his mother recommended he get an MRI. While the Blue Jays appeared to have been considering an MRI themselves. Earlier this week, Lind suggested it would take six to eight weeks to return from the injury, but new the current timeline is considerably more optimistic.

Lind has a .320 batting average and a .389 on-base percentage in 61 games this year. He has four home runs and 16 doubles as Toronto’s primary DH against right-handed pitching.
