The New York Knicks have signed Canadian undrafted free agent guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes.
Additionally, New York also signed undrafted free agent forwards Nigel Hayes and Jamel Artis.
The trio of undrafted rookies all played on the Knicks’ Orlando Summer League team back in early July and it would seem they impressed enough to get a shot at cracking the big club in training camp.
Rathan-Mayes is a native of Markham, Ont. who just recently finished up a four-year, three-season career at Florida State (he was redshirted in his true freshman season). Through the 23-year-old’s 100-game collegiate career, he averaged 12.3 points and 4.5 assists per game on 42.4 per cent shooting.
In Rathan-Mayes’ final year with the Seminoles he receieved All-ACC Defensive Team honours.
Hayes and Artis played full four-season careers at Wisconsin and Pittsburgh, respectively.
The Knicks open their season on Oct. 19 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
