C.J. Miles wasn’t the only deep threat the Toronto Raptors picked up this off-season.
Jonas Valanciunas joins the list of NBA centres trying to adapt to the league’s rapidly evolving style of play.
Raptors head coach Dwane Casey appeared on Sportsnet 590 The Fan on Friday and said he’s been keeping tabs on what the 25-year-old big-man has been up to this off-season at his home in Lithuania.
“Jonas is looking real good. He’s working on his three-point shot,” Casey said on Sportsnet Today with Ben Ennis. “He’s taking those steps, and what all those predictions don’t take into account is the individual improvements that I see with our individual players.”
The predictions Casey was referring to are from ESPN, which had the Raptors finishing sixth in the Eastern Conference next season.

Valanciunas was 1-for-2 from beyond the arc last season and has a grand total of four three-point attempts in his five-year career.
The Raptors coach also touched on Miles, his thoughts on being the underdog in the LeBron era and how the team’s young players have progressed this summer.
