Contrary to an earlier report, Canadian former No. 1 NBA draft pick Anthony Bennett has not been cut from Turkish club Fenerbahce.

Bennett is still on the team and will be on the EuroLeague Final Four roster, but was left off the Turkish-league playoffs roster. According to a memo Canada Basketball sent to Sportsnet, the club can dress only six foreign players in domestic playoffs and opted to go with the ones who were there at the start of the season.

Bennett signed with Fenerbahce in January after getting waived by the Brooklyn Nets and appeared in eight regular-season games and one post-season contest with Fenerbahce, where he has averaged 1.3 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.

Taken first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013 after an excellent freshman year at UNLV, the now-24-year-old wasn’t able to stick in the NBA. He averaged just 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game on 39.2 per cent shooting across 151 games played for four NBA teams — including the Toronto Raptors.

Fenerbahce will take on Real Madrid in their EuroLeague Final Four semi-final on May 19.
