It sure was a wild day if you’re a Toronto sports fan.
The Toronto Argonauts officially announced a new ownership group and will relocate it to BMO Field, but as this was happening, news broke of the Toronto Maple Leafs agreeing to terms with Mike Babcock on a massive eight-year contract.
As you would expect, major Leafs news trumps most other news in Toronto and some felt the Argos’ big announcement was unfairly overshadowed by the Leafs coaching announcement. The Argos/BMO press conference was even hijacked with a question about Babcock.
No one was more upset about this than Argos star defensive end Ricky Foley.
Foley, a three-time Grey Cup champion, the 2009 Most Outstanding Canadian and the 100th Grey Cup’s Most Valuable Canadian, took to Twitter to vent his frustration. He also took a shot at the Toronto Raptors and their “We The North” slogan.
