Panthers among early Super Bowl 51 favourites

The past two Super Bowls each involved a team that had been to the big game within the three previous seasons, which might be a good basis to start from when contemplating the early Super Bowl 51 betting futures at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

The teams with top odds to win Super Bowl 51 next year are still in that window. That includes the Tom Brady-led New England Patriots (+900), who had the best start in the AFC before injuries factored into their ability to challenge the eventual champion Denver Broncos.

It also extends to the Carolina Panthers (+900) and Seattle Seahawks (+900), whose respective quarterbacks Cam Newton and Russell Wilson are each just entering their peak seasons. The Pittsburgh Steelers (+1200), six seasons removed from their last Super Bowl appearance, have the NFL’s best wide receiver in Antonio Brown.

With an uncertain quarterback picture and Super Bowl MVP Von Miller eligible to become a free agent, the triumphant Broncos (+1600) could be hard-pressed to repeat. The NFL has gone 11 seasons without a repeat champion, which is the longest stretch during the Super Bowl era.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers (+1200) could have a brighter outlook in 2016 with star WR Jordy Nelson back after missing the 2015 season with a knee injury. The Arizona Cardinals (+1400) also looked like Super Bowl material for much of the season, but struggled in the playoffs and collapsed against Carolina in the NFC Championship Game.

The Dallas Cowboys (+1600) have top odds among teams that missed the 2015 post-season. The Washington Redskins (+5000) have the lowest odds among teams that went to the playoffs. The Cleveland Browns (+15000) have the lowest odds among all 32 NFL teams.
