FAR HILLS, N.J. — Se Ri Pak has withdrawn from the U.S. Women’s Open next month at Lancaster Country Club.

Pak was the first South Korean to the U.S. Women’s Open, and she inspired an entire nation. She won in 1998 at Blackwolf Run in Wisconsin in a playoff, and went on to a World Hall of Fame career.

The U.S. Golf Association did not say why the 37-year-old Pak withdrew on Monday.

She was replaced by Georgia Hall of England, who was the first alternate from the sectional qualifier in England.

The U.S. Women’s Open is from July 9-12.
