OHL Roundup: Propp makes 47 saves in Colts’ win over IceDogs

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — Christian Propp made 47 saves through regulation and extra time before stopping all three shooters in the shootout as the Barrie Colts topped the Niagara IceDogs 5-4 on Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Anthony Stefano scored the only goal of the shootout while Roy Radke had two goals and an assist in regulation for Barrie (6-6-2). Lucas Chiodo and Adrian Carbonara also found the back of the net.

Graham Knott tied the game at 4-4 midway through the third period for the IceDogs (4-7-2). Christopher Paquette and Ryan Mantha had power-play goals with Oliver Castleman adding the other.

Stephen Dhillon made 44 saves in the loss.

The Colts were scoreless on two power plays and Niagara went 2 for 4.

FRONTENACS 3 FIREBIRDS 0

KINGSTON, Ont. — Jeremy Helvig stopped all 22 shots he faced while Linus Nyman and Stephen Desrocher had power-play goals as the Frontenacs blanked Flint.

Liam Murray added insurance with a goal at 19:59 of the first period for Kingston (6-6-1).

Connor Hicks turned aside 16-of-19 shots for the Firebirds (7-7-1).

GENERALS 3 WOLVES 1

SUDBURY, Ont. — Daniel Robertson had the winner and Kyle Keyser made 33 saves as Oshawa toppled the Wolves.

Jack Studnicka and Eric Henderson, into an empty net, rounded out the attack for the Generals (8-5-1).

Macauley Carson scored and Zack Bowman turned away 32-of-34 shots for Sudbury (7-6-1).

STING 5 STEELHEADS 2

SARNIA, Ont. — Jeff King scored the winner early in the third period and Justin Fazio stopped 34 shots as the Sting got past Mississauga.

Ryan McGregor had a short-handed goal with Anthony Salinitri, Franco Sproviero and Louis Latta also chipping in for Sarnia (9-3-1).

Damian Bourne, shorthanded, and Aidan McFarland, on the power play, found the back of the net for the Steelheads (5-6-2). Matthew Mancina made 24 saves.

STORM 3 ATTACK 1

GUELPH, Ont. — Givani Smith struck twice, including the winner shorthanded, and Liam Herbst made 41 saves as the Storm toppled Owen Sound.

Nate Schnarr added insurance in the third for Guelph (6-7-2).

Nick Suzuki opened the scoring for the Attack (7-7-0) and Michael McNiven kicked out 26-of-29 shots.

RANGERS 2 PETES 0

KITCHENER, Ont. — Chris McGonigle stopped all 32 shots he faced as the Rangers shut out Peterborough for their third straight win.

Jacob Cascagnette and Adam Mascherin, on the power play, scored for Kitchener (9-3-1).

Dylan Wells made 28 saves for the Petes (6-6-2).

GREYHOUNDS 4 KNIGHTS 3 (OT)

LONDON, Ont. — Boris Katchouk’s second goal of the game came on the power play and was the winner 39 seconds into overtime as Sault Ste. Marie edged the Knights.

Gustav Bouramman and Morgan Frost gave the Greyhounds (9-5-1) a 2-0 advantage in the first period. Joseph Raaymakers made 31 saves in net.

Owen MacDonald, shorthanded, Janne Kuokkanen and Cliff Pu scored for London (7-2-3), which had a three-game winning streak snapped. Trenton McGrail took the loss after turning aside 6-of-7 shots in 18:46. Tyler Johnson started but was pulled after stopping 15-of-18 shots.
