QMJHL Final: Game 2 postponed after water leak damages ice

The QMJHL playoff game between Shawinigan Cataractes and Rouyn-Noranda Huskies was cancelled due to coolant leaking on the ice.

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — The second game of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final will have to wait until Saturday to be concluded.

Game 2 between the Shawinigan Cataractes and the host Rouyn-Noranda Huskies had to be postponed on Friday due to a problem with the ice at Iamgold Arena.

During the first intermission, the ice began to leak liquid refrigerant onto playing surface at a spot where one net was anchored. After an hour of work on the problem, the Huskies announced that more time was needed to stop the leakage and the game was postponed to Saturday.

The Huskies led 2-1 after the first period, and the league originally said that the score would be reset to 0-0 when the game is replayed Saturday at 4 p.m. ET. However, because 20 minutes of game action had been played already, the game will resume with Rouyn-Noranda leading 2-1 to start the second period.

The Huskies lead the series 1-0 after a 4-2 victory on Wednesday.
