Andrew Shaw will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Thursday, the league announced Wednesday morning.
Known for being an agitator on the ice, Shaw was ejected from his Montreal Canadiens debut Tuesday night after boarding Washington Capitals defenceman Connor Hobbs. (Watch the play at the top of this post.)
Shaw, who came over from the Chicago Blackhawks in a draft day trade, fought Hobbs’ teammate, Nathan Walker, before leaving the ice. Shaw was issued a total of 30 penalty minutes for the infraction, with two major penalties and two misconducts.
