Despite the Montreal Canadiens‘ recent unraveling on the ice, the team’s coaching staff will remain firmly in place.
Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin held a press conference Thursday and insisted that head coach Michel Therrien and the rest of the club’s staff won’t be going anywhere, and that their jobs are safe this season.
Speculation over Therrien’s fading job security has been high over the course of the team’s downward spiral, which has seen the club lose 17 of its last 21 games, including five straight losses.
The mid-season downward spiral is especially shocking considering the club’s franchise-best nine-game win streak to begin the 2015-16 campaign, placing Montreal atop the league and front and centre in Stanley Cup contention.
The Canadiens’ next game is Saturday in Toronto against the Maple Leafs.
