The St. Louis Blues are giving the crease back to Brian Elliott for Game 6 of the Western Conference Final.
Elliott was the starter for most of the post-season, but after being pulled in Game 3, head coach Ken Hitchcock turned to Jake Allen in an attempt to jump-start his team for Games 5 and 6.
The move worked in Game 4, but a shaky performance in the Blues’ Game 5 loss saw the San Jose Sharks pull ahead in the series 3-2 and left questions about who might help the club survive elimination on Wednesday night.
“We got the jolt we needed from Jake,” Hitchcock told reporters on Tuesday. “These are Brian’s playoffs. We’d like to see him finish the job.”
Elliott has a 9-8-2 record in 17 starts this post-season, with a goals against average of 2.34, a .925 save percentage and one shutout.
