Canadiens’ Andrei Markov injured vs. Capitals

Shea Weber would be in some pain after he takes a slap shot right off of his leg.

The Montreal Canadiens received some bad news during Saturday’s matchup against the Washington Capitals when veteran defenceman Andrei Markov left with a lower-body injury.

It’s unclear how he was injured, but the 37-year-old rearguard did not return.

The Canadiens had a scare earlier in the game, when fellow defenceman Shea Weber left temporarily after blocking a shot from Dmitry Orlov in the first period. Weber did return for the second period. (Watch that play at the top of this post.)

Despite the injuries, the Canadiens came out on top with a 2-1 win.
