Canadiens’ Sekac to replace Pearson as all-star

Montreal Canadiens rookie left wing Jiri Sekac will replace injured Kings rookie Tanner Pearson at the 2015 NHL All-Star skills competition, which will take place Jan. 24.

Pearson suffered a broken leg during Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets, and will undergo surgery. There is no timetable for his return just yet.

Pearson tallied 12 goals and 4 assists for a total of 16 points over the course of his 42 games played this season, earning him a spot among six rookies invited to participate in the All-Star skills competition.

Sekac earned 7 goals and 8 assists for 15 points in 34 games.

The five other rookies are: Johnny Gaudreau (Calgary), Aaron Ekblad (Florida), Filip Forsberg (Nashville), Mike Hoffman (Ottawa) and Jonathan Drouin (Tampa Bay).

The NHL made the All-Star roster announcements on Saturday.
