Canadiens trade Zach Redmond to Sabres for Nicolas Deslauriers

Watch as Nicolas Deslauriers and Brandon Manning drop the gloves in a good scrap.

The Montreal Canadiens traded defenceman Zach Redmond to the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for forward Nicolas Deslauriers, the team announced Wednesday.

Deslauriers, a 2009 third-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings, will report to the AHL’s Laval Rocket. The LaSalle, Que., native has spent the past four seasons with the Sabres. The physical winger had two assists and 38 penalty minutes in 42 NHL games last season.

Redman split the 2016-17 campaign between the Canadiens and the St. John’s IceCaps in the AHL. The 29-year-old signed a two-year deal with Montreal in July 2016.

Both players are set to become unrestricted free agents at the conclusion of this season.
