Vancouver Canucks defenceman Alexander Edler will miss the next four-to-six weeks after undergoing surgery Monday to repair a fractured index finger on his left hand.

Edler has one power-play goal and two assists in 21 games this season for the Canucks.

The 30-year-old was limited to 52 games last year with Vancouver after missing six weeks with a fractured leg.

Edler was drafted in the third round of the 2004 NHL Draft by the Canucks. The six foot three, 214 pounder has 282 points in 641 games, all with Vancouver.
