Capitals’ Kevin Shattenkirk to have hearing for charging

Adrian Kempe's first NHL goal helps the Kings get by the Captials 4-2.

Washington Capitals defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk will have a hearing with the NHL’s department of player safety on Sunday.

Shattenkirk left his feet to hit Los Angeles Kings defenceman Kevin Gravel during Saturday night’s game.

A two-minute minor for charging was assessed to Shattenkirk at the time.

It was just Shattenkirk’s sixth game with Washington since being acquired from St. Louis ahead of the trade deadline.
