Buffalo Sabres defenceman Carlo Colaiacovo is in a hospital being treated for a dented trachea after receiving a cross-check to the face during his team’s win against the Nashville Predators on Saturday.
Viktor Arvidsson received a five-minute major and a game misconduct after he sent Colaiacovo to the ice with 8:17 left in the second period.
The Sabres, who were trailing 1-0 at the time of the play, scored twice on the ensuing power play and would win the game 4-1.
Colaiacovo has two assists in 15 games this year.
