Former Edmonton Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish will be staying with the club, according to the Edmonton Sun.
New general manager and president of hockey operations Peter Chiarelli told the Sun that while he hasn’t settled on a specific title for the demoted GM, McTavish will “be the No. 2 guy.”
“He’ll be my eyes and ears in all areas,” he added.

Chiarelli’s hiring left MacTavish’s status with the club very much up in the air. Of course, Chiarelli can empathize with being fired. He was recently fired after nine seasons — and one Stanley Cup — with the Boston Bruins.
“I explained how much I’d like to have him in the mix and I’m glad he’s come around and decided to stay with us,” he said.
