Connor McDavid eliminated from EA Sports’ NHL 17 cover vote

Connor McDavid just makes scoring goals look so easy as he took a pass, fought off his check with ease before sniping a low shot past Kuemper for the go ahead goal.

Despite a strong push from his Team Canada teammates at the World Championship, Calder Trophy nominee Connor McDavid was eliminated from the EA Sports’ NHL 17 cover vote competition Tuesday.

The Edmonton Oilers wonderkid was knocked out by San Jose Sharks forward Joe Pavelski, who now meets St. Louis Blues sniper Vladimir Tarasenko in the final.

McDavid was among eight NHL stars — one representative from each World Cup of Hockey 2016 team — in the tournament-style vote-off. The 19-year-old beat Jakub Voracek in the opening round. Pavelski took down Anze Kopitar before McDavid, while Tarasenko got past Victor Hedman and Jamie Benn.

Ever the sportsman, the Sharks captain was classy in victory.
