New Jersey Devils forward Taylor Hall hopes to return to the team’s lineup as soon as Thursday, following a torn meniscus he suffered on Nov. 12.
The 25-year-old, who resumed practising on Monday, had surgery on his left knee Nov. 16 and was originally supposed to be sidelined for three to four weeks.
“The surgery wasn’t that crazy. He [the doctor] said I’d be skating by 10-to-14 days and I was skating at a week,” Hall told reporters on Tuesday. “Sometimes your body just accepts injuries really well.”
Hall’s quick recovery bodes well for the Devils, who have struggled in his absence managing just two wins and a 2-3-2 record in the seven games without the speedy winger so far.
When he left, Hall was tied for the team lead in both goals (five) and points (12).
“Before I got hurt, I felt like I was playing some pretty good hockey and so was our team,” said the Calgary native. “It was a lot of fun to be a part of and I want to get back to that as soon as possible.”
The Devils (10-6-5) will hope to have Hall back during their Western Conference road trip, as they visit the Chicago Blackhawks (14-6-3) on Thursday and the Nashville Predators (10-8-3) on Saturday.
They’re in Winnipeg on Tuesday.
