Oilers’ Hall forced to leave game with leg injury

Taylor Hall left the game against the Vancouver Canucks after a hit saw his legs swing right into the bars of the Vancouver net.

Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall was forced to leave Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks with a leg injury and he will remain in Edmonton to be evaluated as his team embarks on its upcoming five-game road trip that begins Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Mere seconds into the second period Saturday, as he was driving wide and cutting towards the net, Hall was cut off by Canucks defenceman Christopher Tanev and crashed into the net with his right leg hitting the post hard.

After going to the bench, Hall limped to the dressing room and the team announced he would not return to the game.

The team did not offer an update on Hall’s status immediately following the game, but Sporsnet’s Nick Kypreos reports the injury might not be as serious as some feared.

Nick Kypreos on Twitter: “Early indication is #Oilers Hall injury might be longer than day to day but isn’t a serious one. Team will know more today with follow up.”

The 22-year-old recorded an assist in the first period to give him six goals four assists on the season.

In other Oilers news, the team made some roster moves Sunday.

Edmonton Oilers on Twitter: “#Oilers have recalled Oscar Klefbom from @OKCBarons, placed Brad Hunt on waivers for purpose of assignment and placed Nikita Nikitin on IR.”
