Erik Johnson out 6-to-8 weeks with broken fibula

Erik Johnson will reportedly miss 6-8 weeks with a broken fibula after this rocket from Tyler Seguin.

Colorado Avalanche defenceman Erik Johnson suffered a broken fibula during Saturday’s game against the Dallas Stars and is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks, the team announced.

The injury occurred in the second period when Johnson blocked a shot from the Stars’ Tyler Seguin.

The 28-year-old left the game and did not return. The Avalanche went on to lose 3-0.

Colorado (9-13-1) has struggled on defence this season and that may not be changing anytime soon after losing one of their best defencemen.

Johnson has 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) and is averaging over 22 minutes in 23 games played this season.
