Flames defenceman Dennis Wideman out for season with tricep injury

Watch as Calgary Flames defenceman Dennis Wideman is injured after a collision with forward Joe Colborne on a Michael Frolik goal.

Calgary Flames defenceman Dennis Wideman will miss the remainder of the regular season with a tricep injury, the team announced Friday.

Wideman left Wednesday’s game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

The defenceman missed 19 games due to his suspension for hitting referee Don Henderson. It was later discovered that Henderson sustained a concussion and that he will also miss the remainder of this season.

The Flames sit 11 points out of a playoff spot with 12 games remaining.
