New York Rangers goaltender Cam Talbot is likely to be on the move at the NHL Draft, and suitors are lining up to pitch him.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reports that several teams have been given permission to speak to the 27-year-old netminder.
Talbot’s situation is a somewhat complicated one for interested parties. With one year left on his current contract before hitting unrestricted free agency, Talbot cannot be extended until January 1 of 2016. He will earn $1,450,000 against the salary cap in 2015-16.
The Rangers could set the market for goaltenders in a trade involving Talbot, but it’s difficult for teams interested in him to give up much without some semblance of a guarantee that he will be a long-term fit.

The Ottawa Senators and Vancouver Canucks are also looking to unload goaltenders, but it appears Talbot is garnering much of the attention ahead of Friday’s draft.
