Brad Richards has his second Stanley Cup ring and will be moving on.
Like fellow free agent Brandon Saad from the 2015 champion Chicago Blackhawks, Richards will be in a new uniform come 2015-16.
The 35-year-old centre inked a one-year, $3-million contract with the Detroit Red Wings Wednesday, making his third Original Six stop in as many years. The deal includes an extra $1 million in playoff bonuses.
Richards scored 12 goals and 25 assists in 76 regular-season games with Chicago last season and was integral to the Blackhawks’ Cup run, contributing 14 points in 23 playoff games.
The Red Wings also added veteran free agent Mike Green on July 1.
