The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Zach Boychuk to a one-year, two-way deal, the team announced Tuesday morning.
The deal is worth $600,000 ($200,000 in the AHL).
“This will be Zach’s eighth season in our organization,” Hurricanes general manager Ron Francis said in the team’s press release. “He’s a reliable depth forward who we know is capable of contributing offensively at either level.”
The 25-year-old forward registered three goals and six points in 31 games with Carolina in 2014-15, and 12 goals and 24 points with the team’s AHL affiliate Charlotte Checkers, becoming the team’s all-time leader in goals. He also won the AHL’s Willie Marshall Award for being the league’s top scorer (36) in 2013-14.
Boychuk has totaled 12 goals and 30 points in 127 career NHL games split between Carolina, Pittsburgh and Nashville.
Originally a first-round draft pick by the Hurricanes in 2008, he returned to the team in 2013.
