Gotta See It: Jeff Petry haggles for smoked meat poutine

Tomas Plekanec scored twice in the first period and Mike Condon made 20 saves in his NHL debut to help the Montreal Canadiens beat the Ottawa Senators 3-1.

It’s late, you’re in Montreal and in desperate need of a snack.

We’ve all been there: Smoked meat or poutine?

If you’re Montreal Canadiens defenceman Jeff Petry, you wisely opt for both.

In a fun little ad for McDonald’s latest quebecois concoction, Petry sits opposite Habs GM Marc Bergevin and negotiates for a smoked-meat poutine.

“At McDonald’s, we’re always looking for ways to adapt our menu based on regional preferences and in Quebec this means uniting two cultural icons: poutine and hockey,” says Carl Pichette, the Eastern marketing manager for McDonald’s Canada.

The Petry dish — McDonald’s fries, cheese curds, gravy, Lesters smoked meat, mustard and pickles — is available at participating Quebec franchises as of Tuesday.
