Despite reports suggesting Todd McLellan and the San Jose Sharks are parting ways, no official decision has been made.

McLellan did say Wednesday that he expects to know what his future with the Sharks holds prior to him going overseas to the Czech Republic to coach Team Canada at the World Championship.

“The answers you guys are looking for today, I’m not going to be able to give them to you,” McLellan told reporters in San Jose. “I need a little more time, and I’m sure the organization needs a little bit more time.”

McLellan, who still has one year left on his contract, led the Sharks to six consecutive playoff appearances prior to this season.

Captain Joe Thornton also addressed the media Wednesday and some interpreted his comments as a shot at McLellan.

Thornton made headlines late in the season for a rift with Sharks general manager Doug Wilson.
