This week, we hit peak “Spacey in Space” when it was reported that Kevin Spacey would appear at the Florida Panthers‘ game against the Detroit Red Wings Saturday night.
Saturday came and Spacey was in the flesh…behind a Kevin Spacey paper mask, no less.
Finally, he revealed his presence to the welcoming crowd. Must have been tough for the elusive Keyser Soze.
Must be nice for Panthers fans. Their most prominent supporter all these years has been a plastic rat. Now they’ve got the dude from K-Pax.
Ok, this might be a bit of overkill.
Keep in mind, it’s election campaign time in the U.S.

Spacey has, of course, been a central figure in the Panthers’ successful season – although not directly. After each win, the Panthers players give a “Spacey in Space” hoodie to the hero of the game. It’s still not clear exactly what the origin story is here, but that’s not stopping anyone from running with it.
Even Spacey is now on board with it.
