The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking at Craig Ramsay and Rick Tocchet as possible assistant coaches to Randy Carlyle, Sportsnet’s John Shannon is reporting.

Ramsay, a Stanley Cup winner in 2004 as an assistant with the Tampa Bay Lightning, was given full reign as a head coach with the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2010-11 season and most recently served as an assistant under Kevin Dineen with the Florida Panthers from 2011 to 2013.

Tocchet coached the Lightning for two seasons from 2008-2010, and has spent most of his career behind the bench as an assistant with stops in Colorado and Phoenix.

The Maple Leafs made major changes this off-season to their front office, hiring Brendan Shanahan as the team’s new president, while firing the club’s entire coaching staff with the exception of head coach Carlyle.

Toronto has also been rumored to be active in trade discussions, with Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos reporting that every player on the roster is available with the exception of four, and that captain Dion Phaneuf was actively being shopped.

The Leafs failed to reach the playoffs for the eighth time in nine seasons after a late-season collapse derailed their post-season hopes.
