My Christmas list starts and ends here.
Although only conceptual jerseys at this point — let’s get an MLB/NHL co-brand going — designer David Parkinson has drawn inspiration from local hockey clubs to sketch hockey sweaters for all 30 Major League Baseball teams. And whoever picks up on the idea and actually produces these bad boys will make a mint.
Parkinson unveiled the American League edition of The MLB Collection on the slick site Icethetic.co this week. (The National League portion of the set hits the Internet Sunday.)
Here is a rundown of the first 15 teams and the respective hockey clubs from which Parkinson sampled. With original puck markets like Toronto and Boston, the sources are obvious. More interesting are the mashups like the Seattle Thunderbirds/Mariners and Oakland A’s/Seals. Click the hyperlinks to check out some of the more obscure source material.
