The Maple Leafs made a trade on Saturday afternoon, acquiring centre Sergey Kalinin from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for defenceman Viktor Loov.

Kalinin, 25, will report to the AHL’s Toronto Marlies. This season, he has played 43 games with the Devils, scoring two goals and four points. It’s Kalinin’s second year in North America — last season he scored eight goals and 15 points in 78 games with the Devils.

Loov, 24, was a seventh-round pick (209th overall) by the Maple Leafs in 2012. He had played 41 games with the Marlies this season, scoring two goals and six points.
