Maple Leafs officially receive third-round pick from Reimer trade

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have a higher pick than expected at the 2018 NHL Draft.

With the San Jose Sharks advancing to the Stanley Cup Final on Wednesday night, the conditional 2018 fourth-round pick Toronto received in the James Reimer trade will become a third-round pick in 2018.

The Maple Leafs dealt Reimer and forward Jeremy Morin to San Jose for goaltender Alex Stalock, forward Ben Smith and the pick on Feb. 27.

Reimer has made one appearance so far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, allowing a goal on seven shots in 30 minutes of work.

The Sharks beat the St. Louis Blues in six games to advance to to the Final for the first time in franchise history.
