Maple Leafs place forward Seth Griffith on waivers

Looks like Seth Griffith will make his debut for the Maple Leafs vs. the Panthers on Thursday, hoping his skills from junior transfers over to the pro level.

The Toronto Maple Leafs placed Seth Griffith on waivers on Friday, according to Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston.

As per Johnston, the club is clearing some roster place in order to accommodate the return of Josh Leivo and Matt Hunwick.

Griffith, 23, joined the Maple Leafs just prior to the 2016-17 season opener when he was claimed off waivers from the Boston Bruins.

The centreman played just three games with Toronto, and did not register any points. He has played 37 career games in the NHL, mostly with the Bruins, and has six goals and five assists to his name.

The 5-foot-9 forward was a force in the AHL last season with the Providence Bruins, registering 24 goals and 53 assists in 57 games.
