The Toronto Maple Leafs placed goaltender Jhonas Enroth on waivers on Monday.
Enroth, 28, was signed by the club in August to back up starter Frederik Andersen, but has underperformed this season with a record of 0-3-1, a 3.94 goals against average and .872 save percentage.
His most recent outing saw him let in two goals in the first 49 seconds against the Calgary Flames on Nov. 30.
News of Enroth’s waiving has resurfaced the idea that Karri Ramo could sign with Toronto upon being medically cleared for game action.
As reported by Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston at the beginning of November, Ramo has been skating with the team this season as he rehabs his left knee following surgery.
The former Flames netminder hasn’t played since February 2016. He has a 60-63-18 overall record in 159 career NHL games as well as a 2.85 goals against average and .906 save percentage.
