Maple Leafs fans could see a familiar sight at the rink on Sunday: James Reimer backing up Jonathan Bernier.
According to Sportsnet’s Damien Cox, Reimer is expected to dress for the Toronto Maple Leafs‘ game against the New York Islanders.
The news comes on the same day the club announced that it has reassigned forward Rich Clune and goaltender Antoine Bibeau to its AHL affiliate Marlies.
Reimer, 27, hasn’t played since Dec. 3, when he aggravated a lower body injury suffered at practice in late November. He has a record of 7-4-4 with a .935 save percentage.
Bernier, meanwhile, will look to get his third win of the season Sunday. He has a save percentage of .889 with a 3.21 goals against average.
