Maple Leafs sign Connor Carrick to two-year deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed defenceman Connor Carrick to a two-year deal Friday.

The contract is one-way and comes with an AAV of $750,000.

Carrick, 22, played 16 games for the Leafs and five for the AHL’s Toronto Marlies after being acquired from the Washington Capitals in February.

The defenceman was drafted by the Capitals in the fifth round of the 2012 draft.

On Thursday, the youngster Carrick was invited by former Detroit Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk to join his hockey school. As a student.
