Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele will not play on Saturday night as the Jets visit the St. Louis Blues.

Scheifele was reportedly injured during the second period of the Jets’ game against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday. He was out for the morning skate on Saturday morning, but it was decided that he is not game ready and will miss his first game of the season.

Scheifele is currently enjoying a breakout start to the 2016-2017 campaign and sits fourth in league scoring with 26 points in 26 games (13 goals, 13 assists).

The 23-year-old will be a big loss for the struggling Jets who have won just four games in their past 10. They currently sit in 11th place in the Western Conference with a 11-13-2 record.
