The Stadium Series continued with the famed Avalanche-Red Wings rivalry, Stamkos has clearly responded since Yzerman's no-trade statement, and Ovechkin was the first to hit 40. Here are three things we learned in the NHL Friday night.

The NHL All-Star skills competition is coming up in Los Angeles on Jan. 28 at 7:00 p.m. ET and on Thursday, the league announced details of the event.

The following events will be part of this year’s skills competition:

· Gatorade NHL Skills Challenge Relay™
· Honda NHL Four Line Challenge™
· DraftKings NHL Accuracy Shooting™
· Bridgestone NHL Fastest Skater™
· Oscar Mayer NHL Hardest Shot™
· Discover NHL Shootout™

The “Four Line Challenge” will take place of the breakaway challenge. In this week’s 30 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman gave details on what this new event would entail:

“Players will try to hit targets in the net from the closest blue line, centre ice, the far blue line and then the opposite goal line. Goalies will be offered the chance to try from the farthest distance, with more points available if they can do it.”

Carey Price of the Atlantic Division, P.K. Subban of the Central Division, Sidney Crosby of the Metropolitan Division and Connor McDavid of the Pacific Division — the fan-elected captains — will select which players will participate in each event. All 44 all-stars will compete in at least one event.

Prior to the beginning of the skills competition, NHL legends will face celebrities in the 2017 NHL All-Star Celebrity Shootout.
